I have been thinking about my desire to share thoughts and experiences that I encounter, that perhaps would aid someone else, it I have been helped.
Sometimes it is a thought, a phrase, a book, a person or it could be an action.
Relaxtion and Spiritual Aid #1, Learning to be quiet.
Today, for April, 2009, I am going to start by suggesting, that we each sit quietly for 15 minutes. If you can't do 15, start with 5, but whatever it is, try to do it once a day. You decide when it best for you, early morning, mid morning, evening, whenever, it does not matter. Maybe try variations of the time of day. Whatever works for you, as there is no right or wrong. For me, it is first thing in the morning, after I have showered; I sit at my desk, in a comfortable position, and set a timer for 15 minutes.
Then, I close my eyes and just begin to breathe. (It is important to note, that having absolute silence is necessary, to keep you from becoming distracted.)
Listen to your breathe, and focus on the sound of your breathing. For those of you familiar with yoga breathing, use this.
If you find your mind wandering, that is ok, just go back to listening to the sound of your breathe and breathing. Before you know it, the 15 minutes will be up.
Now, have a pencil and paper handy, perhaps even a small notebook or journal. If something came to mind that made you feel good, or reminded you of something, or perhaps an inspiration? Write it all down. Then, just go about doing your day.
Try this for the next week. Once you get a week down, try another week, then another, and let's see where that brings you at the end of this month.
What I have found is that this helps me to focus better on the day, and also brings greater awareness of a thought, a phrase or a thing that I have been focusing on.
Please let us know what this has done, or not, and how you are feeling about this 15 mins of quiet.
Blessings, Peace and Joy to you all, with many good Vibrations,
Charles William
